Comparative Analysis of Political Systems

Introduction to the comparison of political systems using the examples of Germany, Italy and Austria, methodical procedure in conducting a political comparison, presentation and analysis of selected political fields (head of state, government, parliament, political parties, elections, interest groups, etc., including their historical depth dimension in the field of tension between democracy and dictatorship) and their normative control mechanisms (constitution), as well as foreign policy problems.

After successful completion of the course, students can:
- describe and analyse the differences and similarities of political systems on the basis of selected political science criteria
- identify political science questions and assign them to corresponding theories
- research and evaluate empirical facts
- analyse different political systems
- interpret scientific texts and derive and evaluate central statements from them, as well as develop and evaluate scientific arguments
- prepare scientific thesis papers.
