• 50% continuous assessment (written and/or verbal): active class participation, assignments, grammar quizzes, presentations and mini research projects • 50% assessment of written performance: syllabus topics covered in class and worked on in self-study phases • Assessment criteria: correctness of content and methodology, completeness of the answer, level of detail of answers, compliance with the criteria of academic writing.

After successful completion of this course, students can: - describe proper technical business and economic terminologies, - classify characteristics of cultural and social diversity including their linguistic varieties, - prepare and transfer of spoken/written business context in English, - identify audiences and adapt writings/documentations for specific target groups, - evaluate writing styles to strengthen clearness and concision, - develop written communication in English with respect to international socio-cultural context in the field of business and economics, - describe, summarise and present graphic representations of sales, financial and other trends and interpret figures and data, - apply for jobs in English: write cover letters, attend or conduct job interviews, - make phone calls in English, - negotiate terms of business, - discuss the importance of cultural awareness in business.
