Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss der Lehrveranstaltung sind die Studierenden in der Lage,
- das Zusammenspiel von GuV, Bilanz und Cashflow zu erklären (2),
- Jahresabschlussinformationen zu lesen und zu interpretieren (4),
- die Bedeutung von strategischen Zielen zu erläutern (2), diese auf Basis von strategischen Analysen abzuleiten (4) und die Strukturen, Prozesse und Aufgaben der operativen Betriebsführung daran auszurichten (5),
- Stellhebel für die Verbesserung der operativen Performance eines Unternehmens zu identifizieren (4) und geeignete Maßnahmen abzuleiten (5),

After accomplishment of the course students are able to categorize and describe different types of derivatives (forwards, futures and options) and apply different mathematical models to calculate prices for them. They can explain the binomial model and its extension in continuous time to the Black-Sholes model. Furthermore, they are able to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills to reflect on the viability of the models in real world markets and to integrate derivatives into an investment approach, e.g. for hedging purposes.

After successful completion of the course the students have done research with the help of my research website, have analysed specific topics from the content of the course listed below and by that have acquired a comprehensive knowledge of historical and economic trends and interrelationships in Europe since the Industrial Revolution. The main focus is on economic developments in the last decades and on the basis of the lecture. The students will be able to select specific topic areas close to their academic environment and research these economic and historical events and compare them to similar occurrences in other parts of Europe and by that they will evaluate and scrutinise the position of Europe in a globalised world based on the economic and historical insight they have gained in the lecture.

The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) ensures that students' academic achievements at universities in the European Higher Education Area can be compared and accredited. The system is supposed to create more transparency, eliminate barriers to mobility, and build a bridge between universities.

At the FH bfi Vienna the ECTS implementation is exemplary. Since 2003 every student has automatically received a free Diploma Supplement in English and German on graduation day. Both ECTS Label and Diploma Supplement Label, awarded by the European Commission, are a sign of fair academic recognition and of improved international transparency.
