Workflow Management

Brief description

This course offers in-depth study of workflow management at various stages of production (pre-production, production and post-production). Another focus is on specific preparations regarding locations (location scouting), recruitment of teams (teambuilding) and working with different external partners (creative professionals, authorities, etc.) in film and media productions. A further key issue is working on the set and corresponding work processes.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are case studies, analyses and games. Micro methods are keynote lectures, dialogic learning, examples and discussions. Students work in the plenum (two groups).

Assessment methods and criteria

One grade for both lecture and tutorial part of class. In total 70 points for final written exam. The tutorial part is worth 30 points (continuous assessment). In total 100 points are to be obtained.

Learning outcome

After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to control workflow at the production and post-production stages of audiovisual projects and to optimize process structures from location scouting and teambuilding to production management and post-production. The graduates will be able to work as production managers in film and TV productions.
