Project Launch and Software Use in Project Management
Brief description
The course focuses on the continuous development (building on the module "Project Management") of technical, behavioral and contextual PM competencies based on international PM standards. It offers in-depth study (in the context of the sub-process project launch) of: stakeholder, project requirements and aims, project launch, project organization, teamwork, project structures, scope of services and deliverables, process and schedules, resources, costs and financial resources, information and documentation, communication, negotiations, legal aspects and contracts, efficiency, creativity, result orientation, personnel management, leadership, motivation and business. Furthermore, the issues of scheduling and resource planning are explained by means of practical examples. The planning of the case study is based on standard project management software.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are case studies and analyses. Micro methods are keynote lectures, dialogic learning, examples and discussions. Students work individually, in groups or in the plenum.
Assessment methods and criteria
One grade for both lecture and tutorial part of class. In total 70 points for final written exam. The tutorial part is worth 30 points (continuous assessment). In total 100 points are to be obtained.

Learning outcome
After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to supervise projects from the project launch onwards. Students will be able to identify different areas of responsibility in project management and develop an ability to deal with problems in a structured way. The students will be able to apply methods and techniques, which will be practiced in the context of examples and case studies.
