Presentation: Pitching

Brief description

The course content includes professional project presentations in the media business, types and situations of pitches, the illustration and communication of content and emotions. Furthermore, the course describes the dramaturgical structure and structuring models of formal and informal presentations for trade fair appearances and "elevator pitching". Preparation and post-processing of material, presentation, analysis and discussion take place in the course. Requirements for successful pitching are presented (how to attract attention, identification, preparation and presentation of essential elements that cause attraction), clarity regarding aims, strengths and weaknesses, communication with the target group during the pitch; congruence of person and project.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are case studies, analyses and debates. Micro methods are keynote lectures, cooperative learning and pitching methods. Students work in groups or in the plenum. Academic success depends on the presence of the students in the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students are graded on the quality of their assignments and presentations.

Learning outcome

After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to prepare an English pitch tailored to the target group. The students will master techniques and methods of preparing abstracts of cinematic content and will be able to emotionally communicate them in short and long presentations.
