Fictional Dramaturgy

Brief description

The course illustrates and analyzes job descriptions and functions of different professions in the area of dramaturgy. It is an in-depth study of different demands on various project stages and different genres illustrated by representatives of selected professions and case studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are case studies, analyses and debates. Micro methods are keynote lectures, dialogic learning, script analyses and discussions. Students work in the plenum.

Assessment methods and criteria

One grade for both lecture and tutorial part of class. In total 70 points for final written exam. The tutorial part is worth 30 points (continuous assessment). In total 100 points are to be obtained.

Learning outcome

After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to cooperate with professionals working in a variety of dramaturgical jobs in the context of projects. They will be able to clearly differentiate between the jobs descriptions of screenwriters, dramaturgs, auteurs and non-writing directors and will become familiar with the corresponding work processes, challenges and requirements.
