Brief description

Communicative teaching: professional and common situations are envisaged at the following levels:
Spanish for beginners (A2), Spanish with previous knowledge (B1).
Russian for beginners (A2), Russian with previous knowledge (B1)
Russian and Spanish:

  • Reading comprehension: Understanding personal letters, information, and reports on everyday activities. Global comprehension of very simply written general information texts. simple newspaper articles and general advertisements. Professional environment: Reservations. Searching and finding information in authentic documents, e. g. brochures and websites.
  • Listening: Global reading comprehension of narratives and reports on familiar topics when spoken clearly. Understand simple instructions. Understand telephone conversations. Vocational: Understand telephone conversations.
  • Written expression: writing short and simple notes and messages, personal letters about everyday life, travel and plans. Professional environment: write and answer informal, short business correspondence and emails. Confirm and decline appointments. Oral interaction: following and responding to conversation on familiar topics. Extending, accepting, and declining invitations. Expressing preferences and agreement. Have a conversation about the weather, travel, or everyday life. Professional environment: use simple pre-structured sentences to make telephone calls and arrange appointments.
  • Oral production: report on experiences and events. Giving information about family, everyday life, leisure. Professional environment: usual professional activities, etc. Present own profession or company. (exemplary A2)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Assessment methods and criteria

Continuous assessment
External language certificates can be acquired on a voluntary basis and, consequently, the courses will be finished by mid-May OR

  • Written final exam 50%
  • Oral exam 20%
  • Participation in class 30%: listening comprehension, Moodle exercises on Aula Virtual, assignments
Assessment criteria: completeness of answers, linguistic accuracy and comprehensibility of written and oral communication and interaction

After successful completion of the course, students with no previous knowledge (A2) can

  • reproduce elementary personal letters, information, and reports on everyday activities
  • search and find information in authentic documents, e. g. brochures and websites
  • explain narratives and reports on familiar topics when spoken clearly and conduct telephone conversations
  • write short and simple notes and messages, personal letters about everyday life, travel, and plans,
  • follow and respond to conversations on familiar topics
  • issue, accept or decline invitations
  • express preferences and agreement
After successful completion of the course, students with previous knowledge (B1) can
  • produce general texts describing feelings, events and wishes
  • interpret radio and television programmes when clear standard language is used
  • reproduce the content of a professional speech
  • write personal letters to tell a story or give a short personal statement
  • write simple texts on topics of interest.
  • reproduce the content of meetings in a professional context: write reports and informative letters or CVs
  • participate in informal and formal situations
  • report on familiar topics and express his/her opinion/point of view on them
  • present products, the company
  • present advantages and disadvantages and answer questions.
