Learning outcome
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to
- describe context, challenges and benefits of multi-project management and illustrate the connection of multi-project management approaches with organizational strategy,
- discern the terms project, program and project portfolio and illustrate the differences and relations between project and program management,
- explain the characteristics of programs and the aims and challenges of program management,
- illustrate the concept of program life cycle and its application and benefit for program management,
- describe the basic elements and crucial success factors of a systematic program management approach and use a standard vocabulary for program management,
- describe and explain structure and content of support activities in program management and their role in the program life cycle,
- describe and illustrate the roles and competences needed in program management,
- describe the possibilities of embedding program management in the organization, explain their advantages and disadvantages, and design them in a specific case study, and
- apply selected "good practice" methods and techniques of program management (e.g. for benefits management) in a specific case study.
