Brief description
Internationalization as an action framework and problem field, terms and conceptual foundations in international management. Theories of international business (trade theory, theory of foreign direct investment, theory ofthe mulitnational firm) strategic management in interational firms (methods of market choice and location, forms of internationalization and -strategies, cross-border configuration of value added activities) Actual trade practice, including the management of trade enviroment, trade management, risk-, insurance-, security- and compliance management.

The assessment of the performance for students takes place through 100% written exam (60 min. closed book with 5 out of 6 questions).

Learning outcome
At the end of this course, students
Will be able to portray the historical development of internationalization as well as the effects of globalization on various dimensions of economic procedures, explain internationalization behaviour of businesses by means of common models and theories, as well as being able to develop basic strategies of internationalization.
Should have a basic knowledge about actual trade practice, including contracting, customs and documentary paperwork, means and modes of payment, as well as risk, insurance, security and compliance management issues.
This should enable them to plan successfully shipping and handling of international goods movements.
