Learning outcome
On successful completion of the class, students will be able to:
- Describe and explain the theoretical foundation, concepts and practices of international HR Management (HRM) and the differences between the “best practice” and the “best fit” approach
- Critically reflect the debate between globalisation and localisation in HRM
- Describe the linkages between different internationalisation strategies of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) and HR practices and review different approaches to the transfer of HRM practices across boundaries
- Describe the key concepts of culture, intercultural competence, global management
- Describe how culture influences interactions and behaviour in management and in companies
- Describe the basics of intercultural management
- To recognise and find solutions to critical incidents in intercultural management.
