HR Process Redesign and Automation
Brief description
- Overview (Redesign Orbit) and application examples of optimisation processes and redesign processes
- Influencing factors and dependencies of process redesigns (e.g. Devil’s Quadrangle)
- Transactional redesign methods (e.g. Six Sigma, heuristic processes, Lean)
- Transformational redesign methods (e.g. process-model canvas, product-based design)
- Overview of tchniques of Digital Innovation Management and its connection to Process Management
- Techniques for the identification of optimisation potentials based on process simulations (e.g. by means of BIMP or Signavio)
- Techniques and tools of the software-based automation of HR processes: Robotic-Process Automation (RPA)
- Overview and application of established RPA tools (e.g. Blue Prism)
- Application examples and scenarios from HR Management

Learning outcome
After successful completion of the course, the students can
- explain possibilities and challenges of process structuring and automation from a technical-methodical and an organisational perspective
- explain processes of process redesigns and categorise them in the light of different dimensions (e.g. organisations, techniques/technologies, degree of innovation)
- explain the connection between Business Process Management (and process redesign in particular) and Digital Innovation Management, select the processes in the light of exemplary application cases from the HR domain and describe the implementation and possible related risks
- use tools for process simulation for the identification of optimisation potentials
- explain techniques and benefits/risks of process automation and configurate selected tools of Robotic-Process Automation (RPA) for the automation of exemplary HR processes
