HR Process Analysis

Brief description

  • Fundamentals of process management (e.g. BPM lifecycle, tasks and stakeholder, HR processes, process landscape)
  • Application examples and scenarios from HR Management (e.g. in the form of exemplary HR processes)
  • Modelling of processes by means of Business Process Management Notation (BPMN), e.g. branching/merging, resources, decomposition, reutilisation and with regard to syntactic, semantic and pragmatic modelling aspects
  • Use of BPMN diagram editors (e.g. ARIS)
  • Techniques for the acquisition of processes (e.g. setting and stakeholder, evidence-based and social techniques, process quality)
  • Qualitative methods of process analysis (e.g. value-added-waste analysis, root-cause analysis, stakeholder analysis)
  • Quantitative methods of process analysis (e.g. flow analysis, queuing analysis)
  • Analysis based on process simulations (e.g. by means of the simulation tools BIMP or Signavio)

Learning outcome

After successful completion of the course, the students can

  • explain possibilities and challenges of process management in general and of process analysis in particular from different perspectives (e.g. from the perspective of a process owner)
  • explain and apply techniques for the identification and acquisition of processes
  • illustrate processes (especially from HRM) by means of the modelling language Business Process Management Notation (BPMN) and also model them by using suitable diagram editors
  • explain qualitative and quantitative processes of process analysis and apply them in connection with an analysis of HR processes
  • configure tools for the simulation of processes and use the results for process analysis
