Fundamentals of Civil Law

Brief description

  • Differentiation: law-state and private law-public law; structure of the legal system; legal methodology.; - legal capacity, capacity of natural persons, responsibility for civil wrongs, law of agency; - property law (possession, property, restricted real rights such lien, easement etc); - general section of law of obligations (contract, control of general terms and conditions, breach of good morals, fundamental non-performance e.g. error, interference with performance of an obligation e.g. default or subsequent impossibility, etc); overview of types of contract and their characteristics; - tort law: damage, causality , unlawfulness, fault; liability for the behaviour of others (vicarious liability), particular liability cases, product liability in particular; - overview of consumer protection law.

Learning outcome

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to professionally deal with civil law problems which occur in their professional routine (e.g. absence of intention at the stage of concluding the contract, interference with performance of an obligation such as default or impossibility of performance) and efficiently discuss more complex legal questions with legal advisers.
