Controlling in Traffic and Transport
Brief description
1) Introduction: definition of the overall-system oriented controlling, goals and tasks in the traffic and transport sectors, cost-related and production-related framework in transport, areas of conflict and problem areas
2) Cost and yield management: pricing mechanisms (tariffs, cost-oriented pricing, spot rates), determination of cost rates (activity-based costing, classic fleet accounting), capacity-oriented pricing (yield management), balance by accounting period (fixed cost calculation, two-dimensional balance by accounting period)
3) Investment management: cost comparison method, applications of pay-off period and return on investment, decision to buy or lease, determination of optimum operating life of means of transport.
4) Fleet allocation management: productivity planning and controlling, application of integrative software solutions
5) Reporting and management ratios: structure, layout and preparation of reports, management ratios for the transport and traffic sectors

Learning outcome
On the completion of this course the students will be able to apply controlling mechanisms in the fields of transport and traffic. Here, the focus is placed on the practical application of costing and cost accounting of vehicle, including the creation of part and fully loaded tariffs. Furthermore, the graduate will be able to apply in practice, billing models and a variety of storage controlling modules for controlling of contract logistics projects.
