Communicative priorities:
Subjects and fields of study: languages, countries, nationalities; compliments and reacting to them; time; daily routine; meals, food and drinks; office activities;
means of transport; weekdays; business correspondence.
Language focus:
Nouns and adjectives in prepositive sg. and genitive sg.; accusative sg. (animate and inanimate); personal pronouns in the dative; ordinal numerals 1 - 10; reflexive verb "учиться";
preterite; purposeful movement verbs "идти" / "ехать"; verbal aspects (education, meaning, use,
signal words); verb "быть" in the future tense; short form of the adjective in predicative function;
personal pronouns; possessive pronouns; adjectives and nouns in the instrumental and dative
relative pronouns "который".

Participation & performance 10%, oral part 40% (oral production and interaction 20 points, listening comprehension or cultural studies 20 points), written part 50% (reading comprehension 10 points, written production and interaction 20 points, grammar and vocabulary 20 points).

After successful completion of the course, students are can:

  • understand simple information about persons/work as well as simple letters (appointments/invitations)
  • understand information of instructions according to known language patterns (timetables/ads/brochures)
  • answer simple questions about the field of activity based on known language patterns and ask questions about it.
In addition to this, students will be able to develop their understanding of the culture of the respective countries so that it can be successfully applied in business life.
